My monroe piercing is infected, its actually embedded on the inside of my lip. should i have it lanced?

i had my monroe pierced about six months ago. its gotten infected a couple of times. it'll swell and ill take midol, rinse with non alcohol mouth wash and clean it with soft soap, it has helped except for the last time. my lip got so swollen the flat part on the bar (on the inside of your lip) actually embedded itself inside my lip and hasnt come out. after the last time it got infected its been fine (other than the fact i have a piece of steel stuck inside my lip) Well now it has gotten infected again and its the worst its been. My question is, has anyone had their monroe lanced before? If so, what is the process, what kind of pain am i in for, and will i still be able to keep my monroe? Sorry so long...if you have any advice or information on this i would greatly appreciate it.
