Does anyone know of a one step H&E staining protocol where you mix the hemotoxylin and eosin?

My boss would like me to quickly stain some OTC embedded brain sections with H&E but he insists there is a way to do it by mixing the hemotoxylin and eosin and then simply dipping the slide in until the tissue looks sufficiently stained. I've never heard of this. He can remember the concentrations to use so I've been searching the internet in vain. Anyone have a protocol?? Thanks!!!!
