Will my hair lay flat after awhile?

i just got my hair cut earlier today. i got a pixie cut. my hair is pretty freakin' thick so it bulges out on the sides and the top. which i want a more like flat look instead of voluminous. will it lay down once i wear it like this a few days? what products could i use to make it look better?
