Why do parents deliberately saddle their offspring with ridiculous names?

Sometimes people must just not be thinking clearly when they name their children things like that, often parents don't think through it properly and don't consider how the name as a whole sounds or the consequences the child will face once they start school etc. However, there are some people who deliberately give their children ridiculous names, and I have no idea why, I just feel sorry for the poor child who ends up with the name!
